Head of Clinical and Diagnostic Oral Sciences at the Institute of Dentistry, Professor Farida Fortune graduated in both Dentistry and Medicine from University College London and in 1992 obtained her PhD from the University of London. She has been recognised as the top five most influential Muslim women in the Guardian’s society segment. Her list of achievements are many from President of the British Society of Oral Medicine in 2007 and President of Odontology section of the Royal Society of Medicine in 2011. She was also elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2007. One of her main focuses has been to widen access and increase uptake into higher education for Muslim women, both nationally and internationally.
